REAL LIFE STORIES
Every day of the week, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, emergency services are dispatched to emergencies and accidents all over New Zealand – putting out fires, saving lives and rescuing people from traumatic, dangerous and challenging situations.
None of this would be possible without effective communications and the cooperation and goodwill of New Zealanders.
To demonstrate the importance of callers to 111 staying as calm as they can, providing the best information they can and following the instructions the call taker gives them, we provide here a selection of real life stories with positive outcomes for all involved.
These stories also demonstrate the importance of our Communications Centre staff and emergency crews working closely together and staying in close communication.
We would like to thank all those who made such a difference during these emergencies – including the people who dialled 111 and did everything they could to help the people in trouble and the emergency services.
