In this edited 111 call to Police, a woman wakes up to find a man beside her bed. Understandably, she is very frightened.

Kate Edmonds, a Communicator for Police at the Wellington Communications Centre takes the 111 call and steps the caller through the process of obtaining all the relevant and important information.

Because the caller is scared, Kate continually reassures her, trying to keep her calm.

Kate also talks to the caller's husband. Kate explains to the husband not to walk around the house because Police dog units are on the way, and he may spoil the tracks left by the offender.

Kate also advises the woman how Police will put cars on nearby streets to catch the offender if he is running away from the scene.

This 111 call had a very successful outcome. While in the house, the offender dropped his wallet containing identifying details. Police were quickly able to apprehend him. He received a prison sentence for his crime.
